"MESS" MADE.
PARK AT HAMILTON. RELIEF WORKERS BLAMED. BEAUTIFUL TREES LEVELLED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Disgust at the manner in which relief workers had cleared a portion of Jesmond Park, on the easteri* siae or the railway bridge, was expressed at a meeting of the Hamilton Beautifying Socicty last evening. Mr. T. G. Reynolds said many residents were blaming the society for levelling many beautiful old trees, but the work was supervised by the borough council. "I was horrified to see the mess they had made of it," observed Mr. W. 11. Paul, chairman. "Only two pines were marked to be levelled, but the work of felling caused so much damage that their removal was also deemed necessary." A committee was appointed to confer with borough officials in improving the area.
