ROTORUA HIGH SCHOOL.
PARENTS' ASSOCIATION. KOTORUA, Wednesday. There was a good attendance at tlia annual meeting of the Rotorua High School Parents' Association last evening, the chair being occupied by the retiring . president, Mr. A. G. Holland. In view of the fact that it had been : freely stated in town that, owing to the cost of books, uniforms, etc., some : parents were keeping their children an : extra year at the primary school, the following resolution was passed: "That it be placed 011 record and given the fullest ' publicity that the headmaster is pro- \ pared to meet any parent so situated [ and should a parent consider the linail- - eial outlay for the first year too great ' he would be glad to explain to what 1 extent lie would be prepared to assist ' from the school funds." In the course of discussion it was exI plained that 20 children last year had 1 been loaned books free of charge. The [ school uniform, whilst of first-elai? i material, was not necessarily dear. A further question introduced was the t statement that gloves for girls were :i I part of the uniform. Ford: rcpresenta--1 tive of the native race, Mr. Munro. During the nine months of the asso- , ciation's existence, a total of £78 18/11 y has been raised from various sources. I Against this an expenditure of £13 1/10} I- has been incurred, leaving a credit I balance in the bank of £(5o 10/, with 1/10J cash in hand.
