CHEAPER WATER.
ONE TREE HILL REDUCTION. Economies brought about by tlic installation of a new pump, and-by the conversion of the waterworks loans have been passed on to the ratepayers of the One Tree Hill borough. At the meeting of the council last evening it was decided to reduce the rate to domestic consumers by 3d per 1000 gallons, in excess of the minimum of 10,000 gallons for which the charge of 15/ will remain. Tho new rate will be 1/3 per 1000 gallons, instead of 1/6, and the concession to consumers will amount to £240. A report by the clerk, Sir. A. Leese, , showed that £1-19 annually would be saved by the loan conversion, and £240 in power charges by the installation of a bigger pump to take advantage of the low power charges between tho hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. The Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, said the present was not the time to make profits, and any savings that it was possible to make would be passed on to relievo tho ratepayers. The reduced water cliargc would take effect from December 1, 1933, and the concessions would be allowed on the next half-year's rates. The Mayor added that, as the result of economies by the council since 1928, savings of £2309 per annum had now been effected.
