Mr. C. G. Macindoe has returned from the North. Mr. J. O'Brien, M.P. for Westland, leaves for the South by the Limited this evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Carpenter and Mr. John Carpenter returned from Taupo last evening. Mr. H. G. E. Mason, M.P. for Auckland Suburbs, returned from the South, by the Limited this morning. Mr. L. Barnes, formerly station director of IYA, has been appointed choirmaster of St. David's Presbyterian. Church. Major-General Sir William Sinclair Burgess, general officer commanding the New Zealand military forces, leaves for Wellington by the Limited to-night. Archbishop Duhig, of Brisbane, and Bishop Gleeson, of Maitland, New South Wales, will arrive by the Monowai from Sydney on Monday, and will be the guests of Bishop Liston. Mr. G. W. Hutchison, Mayor of Auckland, returned this morning from Wellington, where he lias been attending a meeting of the North Island Motor Union as representative of the Automobile Association. * The Rev. John Laird, pastor of the Mount Albert Baptist Church and president-elect of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, leaves this week on a visit to England, and he will represent New Zealand at the Baptist World Alliance Conference to be held in Berlin in August.
