THE REGATTA.

PRIZE NIGHT ARRANGED. At a meeting last evening of the Auckland regatta committee, Mr. Ernest Davis presiding, arrangements were made for the prize night to be held next Monday in the Missions to Seamen Hall. The prizes will be presented by his Worship the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, who is president of the regatta committee. Invitations to be present have been sent to his Excellency, the GovernorGeneral. and the Prime Minister, Hon. G. W. Forbes, who is expected to be in Auckland on Monday. The treasurer reported that receipts exceeded last year's total by £S3, the increase being:—Donations, 1933. £196; 1934, £280. Entries were about the same, £58. The programme sales and advertising showed an increase of £17. Mr. Davis said it was very gratifying to the committee to find that their efforts to make the regatta, which was the oldest sporting event in the Dominion, as successful as possible, had met with the approval and financial support of so many business firms and the boating public. It was all the reward that they asked for. The judges' report was received and adopted, and Mr. E. Griffiths and his assistants thanked for their good work. It was decided to refer the question of the Z class protest to the sailing committee. A letter was received from Mr. J. 11. Savory accepting the invitation to be present to see his cup presented, and expressing his best thanks for his election as honorary life member of the committee.
