PAPATOETOE MEETING
The Papatoetoe Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club held Its annual weekly meetln,. «t the Stadium last evening. \ rather serious spill wlileli occurred in the final of the one mile B grade eye,;, raee somewhat marred the meeting. w. Bnvlv. when overtaking Waite in the sonnt. for places upset, and fell in the path of three other riders. Two escaped with seratehes. but K. Simmons cut his head ami shoulder badly, while Bayly also suffered several deep cuts and bruises. E. Simmons is one of the eluh's most promising Junior riders, and his injuries will prevent WW from riding for another month at least. The crash was the first of any consequence to happen on the I'npatoetoe track, and was probably due to the bad light. In the three-quarter mile 1? grade handicap C. French (25vds) sprinted well for first place, hut failed hy inches nnlv to en teh rvilecutt. IT. Gillies, who finished third, was well in the rear. A tine finish was witnessed In the threcnunrter' mile A grade raee. when K. MrKenxie (25yds), after a determined sprint, just succeeded in heating S. Haddock (60 yds), who had headed the pack over the last two laps, S. Snelling scored a well earned win In the final of the 220 yards B grade.
