HORSES FOR TARANAKI. W. Rayner was to take Pomp and Rust to New Plymouth yesterday, according to our Waugamii correspondent. Pomp has been getting through his work in his usual dashing style, while Rust is also shaping well. The latter promises to do well over middle distances. TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB. CHAMPAGNE STAKES CANDIDATE. Trumpet Bla.st, who wilLbe the Chokebore Lodge candidate (for the Dunedin Champagne Stakes to-morrow, has not yet raced, but he gallops well on the tracks. He ■is owned by Mr. G. R. Maedonald, S'i-S J 1 a brother-in-law of Sir Charles Wirrord. Irumpet Blast is a bay gelding by Jericho from Capercailzie,' by Autumnus from Kirriemuir, by Clanranald from Madowla. Jericho is by Archery, son of in^ Ce ?\ f £", n Judjth, by Martian from imported Hebrew Maid, by Orion. The Cuokebore Lodge stable lias already won the Dunedin Champagne Stakes 16 times Cymsca (1889). Stronghold (1904), Glenowlet (1905). Husbandman . (1908), SharnS?*«M'; Counterfeit (1911), Brown Owl -(-1912), Nightwateh (1913), Adjutant (191.5), Good Hope (1916), Gamecock (1917); Heathercote (1918), Miss Mimic (1919), Winter Wind (1920) and Wild Hind (1923) all won this event for Sir George Clifford. Fracas scored last year for Sir Charles Clifford.' Jericho, sire of Trumpet Blast, won this race in 1927 for Mr. George Gould.
