EAST TAMAKI INSTITUTE.

As the East Tamaki Women's Insti--tute had not held a meeting for two months, it had to proceed with Thursday's programme, although feeling deeply the loss of its president, Mrs. T. P. Smith. Owing to the rain the meeting could not be held out'of doors, as planned, and lunch was had in the hall. A most interesting and instructive addrees on "The Maori" was given by Archdeacon Hawkins. Business was gone through, and the agenda for the annual meeting in March was read. The scrutineers appointed for the elections were Mr. Clieeseman and Mr. Upfold. Recipes for preserving fruit, pickles and a summer sweet were given at roll call. It was decided to hold all written, recipes for a booklet. The afternoon Mas brought to a close with two rccitatione by Miss Mavis Landon.
