NEARLY DROWNED.
BOY AT ONEHUNGA. FALL. FROM WHARF. A nine-year-old l>ov, Slervvn Holmes, son of Sir. A. Holmes, of 17. Garland Avenue. Royal Oak, had a narrow escape from drowning when lie Ml into the Slanukau Harbour while fishing from the Onehunga wharf yesterday afternoon. " On seeinor the. bov's plight, a wharf labourer. Sir. A. Field, of 11. Amaru Road, Onehunga, plunaed in fully clothed to the rescue. He was able to keep the drowning boy supported until they were reached in a dinghy by Sir. Henry Evans and Sl'. Tommy Pai. When tiie boat reached tlie wliarf with the bov and his rescuers, ' he was attended by Dr. A..L. Noakes and Constable, L. R'. STorgan. who applied resuscitation measures. The boy was in a serious condition and it was some time before he recovered consciousness. lie was afterwards taken to his home.
