Mr. T. Baildon, stationmaster at Opua, has been appointed chief clerk at Morrinsville.

Mr. John F. Potter, headmaster of the Richmond School at Nelson, who spent the vacation at Auckland, left for Wellington yesterday. '

Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., has accepted the appointment of honorary colonel of the Wellington Regiment.

Dr. J. B. Condliffc, of the Economics and Financial Division of the Secretariat of the League of Nations, intends to visit New Zealand on holiday during the current year.

Cdptain C. McD. Lindsay, a retired English Army officer, arrived by the Ruahiiie yesterday with his wife and two daughters. It is their intention to make their home in New Zealand. ■

Mr. G. T. Wilson, district traffic manager at Auckland for the N.Z.R., resumes duty on Monday next after furlough, and goes to Wellington to attend a conference of traffic managers to be held on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Milburn, of Seaview Road, Rcmuera, returned to Auckland yesterday with their son Ivan, who was injured in an accident at Dargaville. Mr. C. G. Macindoe is leaving t this afternoon with a party of friends in his launch for Russell. They will be present at Waitangi during the forthcoming celebrations. Mr. J. R. McKenzie, of Wellington, intends to join the R.M.s. Niagara, leaving Auckland for Vancouver next Tuesday. He will tour the United States and England, being away about seven months.

Captain T. S. Weston arrived by the Rualiine yesterday from London, to spend several months in New Zealand. He retired eight years ago from the New Zealand Shipping Company, with whom lie had bad a long service, and has come to New Zealand periodically since to avoid the English winter.

Mr. K. E. Bullen returned to Auckland by the Ruaihine yesterday, after an absence of two and a half years. He will take up his position again as lecturer in mathematics at the 1 Auckland University College. He has been at St. John's College, Cambridge University, doing research work in seismology.

The special Assessment Court to hear objections to the Northcote urban farm lands list is to sit on Monday, March 5, at 10 a.m., at the Borough Chambers, Northcote. The chairman is Mr. Wyvern "Wilson, S.M., and the assessors are ,-Messrs. T, Hanna. and A. E^Greenslade.-
