BRIDGE CONTEST.
SIXTEEN DEALS.
WORLD'S CHAMPIONSHIP,
AUCKLAJTDERS PLAY TO-MORROW. Among the thousands of players who will take part in the world's contract bridge championship are 32 Aucklandcro, or 10 pairs, and they will play the hands which were, received from America, and which will be taken from the sealed envelopes to-morrow evening, when the players take their places at the Officers' Club rooms.
There, are 10 deals of four hands each, and in each envelope containing a deal is a slip upon which has to be entered the result of the play at each table of that particular deal. As. the entries from Auckland number 32 there will be eight tables, and the officials of the Northern Contract Bridge Club, Auckland, who are in charge, have decided to divide the l(i deals into two sets of eight. The eight tables will be "staggered," that is, they will not be arranged in strict numerical order, and when the players are seated the deals Xos. 1 to S will be handed out. the hands being allotted to north, south, east and west, as arranged in the envelopes. Each set of four players will play each of the eight deals, and when these have Upon decided there will be a short interval, after which the deals Xos. 9 to 10 will bo pTny-ert by each set.
Tlic results will be posted to America on Friday morning, and there judged by tlie experts. In making; their decisions, the judges will take into consideration calliifg, play, leads, attack and defence. Mr. T. W. Hosking has been appointed games captain to supervise play to-morrow evening , .
