LENA GOLDFIELDS CLAIM.

RUGBY', January 30. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department, Mr. D. J. Colville, was questioned in the House of Commons about the Lena Goldfields ease. He said an intimation had been 4 received from "the Soviet that if the company were to inform the Concessions Committee that it had not been able to accept the former offer made to it, but was ready to resume negotiations, the committee would respond favourably. It had been added jthat the mere fact of a resumption of the negotiations would indicate a mutual amendment of terms.

The British' Government accordingly had advised the company to address to the Concessions Committee a letter proposing to send representatives to Moscow to discuss the claim, on the understanding that the terms would l>o materially amended on both sides. The company had adopted" this course.
