IMPROVED DEMAND FOR POTATOES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Tuesday. The demand for Pukekohe potatoes lias improved considerably during the pant week and is now fairly good. Merchants are quoting from £7 to £7 5/ per ton. Supplies are fair ;mil are gradually improving. There is a good demand for loci! onions at from £5 15/ to £u' 5/ per ton. The quality is fair. Pickling onions arc available at 7/6 per cwt. There has been a very heavy demand for cabbages during the past week at 4/0 per largo sack. Thin heavy demand was rather unexpected, but supplies are fairly good again. The bulk of the orders required to be tilled are coming from Hawko's Bay aud Taranaki, where there is evidently a keen shortage at present. Carrots are selling at 4/u' per sugar bag; French beaus, at u/U per sugar bag (301b); marrows, at 3/3 per dozen, and pumpkins at 8/ per cwt. The price of rhubarb has dropped slightly and is now firm at 2/S) per dozen bundles. Tomatoes have dropped considerably in price, supplies now being fairly good; the price at present is 3/3 per case. The demand lor all classes of vegetables is particularly good for this time of the season and prices arc satisfactory.
