JOCKEYS DEATH.
The funeral of the late G. A. Baker, aged 10 years, the apprentice jockey who was fatally injured during the running of the Calliope Handicap at the Takar puna races on Saturday, took place at Morrinsville Cemetery. Widespread sympathy with deceased's parents, Mr. and Mrs.G. Baker, of Mqtumaoho. near Morriusville, was indicated by the large and representative attendance. About 100 cars made tip the cortege, and there was a great number of wreaths. Jockey friends of deceased' acted as pallbearers, and a number of racing clubs were represented. Deceased, who was popularly known as "Alby" throughout the Morrinsville district, had spent all his youth near Morrinsville, and attended the Motuniaoho school and played football in Morrinsville competitions. His father was a prominent Morrinsville footballer formauy years. ■■; - [>
