YOUNG "WOMAN SENTENCED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Violet May Franks, aged 22, for obtaining goods valued at £01 from the D.I.C. by fatee representation, was sentenced to two years in a Borstal Institute.

Accused arrived from Christchurch and booked at a boardinghouse under the name of "Miss Dawson." On the representation that she had an account with the D.I.C. at Christchureh, she had seven frocks sent to her for inspection. She .selected, one and left the boardinghouse without paying her board, taking the other six frocks. The frocks were later recovered.
