SQUADRON WEEK-END.
REGATTA AT KAWAU.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO ATTEND,
Auckland yachtsmen are looking forward to the annual reunion of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. Four years ago the squadron celebrated its sixtieth anniversary with a celebration at Kawau and this has been kept up annually since. The celebrations begin with an open handicap race for a trophy presented by Rear-Admiral Geoffrey Blake, who was commodore of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy at the time of the anniversary, and who participated in the squadron's race. The competing yaehte will leave Auckland on Friday inight.
The regatta at Mansion House Bay will begin on Saturday morning, when there will be.a contest with women at ■fhe helm of the craft. In the afternoon there will be a general handicap race. The cruisers Diomede and Dunedin will he at Kawau for the week-end and their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Bledisloe, will also attend-the gathering. It is anticipated that a large number of yachtsmen's wives and friends will go down to Kawau for the week-end, ing by the Duchess on Friday night. • The prize giving and a daiice will be Jield at the Mansion House on Saturday evening.
