ON THE WANGANELLA
NOTABLE AUSTRALIANS.
EARL OF WEMYSS RETURNS. Except for the last stage of her voyage from Sydney down the New Zealand coast last evening, the HuddartParker motor liner Wanganella, which arrived at Auckland this morning, had a calm crossing. '
Among the passengers were a number of well-known English visitors who are combining business and pleasure visits to the Dominion, and several notable Australians, including representatives of the Federal and New South Wales Governments, who will attend the Waitangl ceremonies.
The Earl of Wemyss, who visited New Zealand last year, has again come out for the fishing season and will try his hand the deep sea fishing grounds and in the trout streams. He will also attend the Waitangi celebrations.
Sir Hugh and Lady Denison are on a holiday trip. Sir Hugh is chairman of directors of Associated Newspapers, Ltd., Sydney. They will spend part of their holiday in the Bay of Islands. Other visitors who intend to participate in the fishing sport at the Bay of Islands are Sir Thomas Henley, K.8.E., a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, and his son, Mr. H. Sydney Henley. The latter is accompanied by his wife and two sons. Captain K. M. V. Ponsonby, late of the Welsh Guards, accompanied by his wife, is making a short visit to New Zealand.
Mr. R. J. Anwyl, general manager of Thomas Cook and Sons, Australia and New Zealand, is paying a visit to the Dominion. Mr. A. J. Harling Bayliss, a member of the executive of Lever Brothers, England, is on a holiday tour. He will rejoin the Wanganella at Wellington on February 12 for the cruise to the '.-'out'.icrn Sounds.
