CHALLENGE RACE.
M AND V CLASSES. FOUR BOATS ASIDE. Keen but friendly rivalry exists between the 18ft restricted boats, known officially as the M class, and the 18ft square bilge or V class. To decide the question of speed and seamanship, a teams race has been agreed on between four boats of each class, to be run on similar lines to tho British-American six-metro cup races held alternately in England and the United States. The scoring is done on a points system, -the winner receiving eight points and the subsequent boats to finish taking points in the order of finishing, down to one for the last boat, the highest team score winning.
The M boats will be Maroro, Manene. Mann and Mawhiti. The V boats will be selected from Paroro, Memiitu, Marianne, Martha S., Mystic and Drone. By permission of the "Royals," the above owners are requested to meet at the squadron rooms to-morrow at 8 p.m. to arrange all details. The race will be held under the auspices of the Tamaki Yacht Club and sailed on Saturday over a course to be arranged, starting and finishing off Kohimarama wharf.
