HER THIRD TRIP.

TITLED SCOTTISH VISITOR

"COMM ENT6 MISCONSTRUED."On her third visit to New Zealand, which, next to her native Scotland, she considers the finest country in the world. Lady Angela St. Clair-Ersktne, daughter of the late Karl of Rosslyn, arrived by the Wanganella from Sydney this morning. Lady Angela will he remembered lor her fearless and outspoken book on Australia and New Zealand, which she titled 'Tore and Aft." Referring to it to-day, she said that some of her comments had been misconstrued, especially those on the manners and behaviour of colonials. If the book was read carefully, she said, it would be clear that «hc'had intended to criticise the actions of certain Englishmen who camc < out to the colonics and refused to listen to the advice of those who understood the ways of the country. She had never had anything but the greatest kindness from colonials, and she could not speak highlv enough of them. "The charming hospitality of New Zcalanders reminds me of my native Scotland." said Lady Angela, and of all the countries that I have visited I prefer it, next, »f course, to Scotland. When I was last here I went to the Bav of Islands for a few days, and I wa£ so impressed that I intend to return there for a longer stay, and will try the bier n-ame fishing. While there I shall attend the Waitangi celebrations Later Lady Angela will visit Whan<raroa, abou't which she has heard so irTueh, and Taupo, for trout fishing. She will return home about April. Lady Angela admitted that she was writing a play, which she has been workino- oh for some months. She has not vet received advice from the London producer regarding its release, and so was unable to disclose its title, but she was able to say that it was a modern comedy with a touch of melodrama.
