QUIETER TO-DAY. NATIONAL INSURANCE FIRM. Business on the Auckland Stoca. Ex change quietened clown this morning, an only three sales were recorded at the first calL In the insurance section Nationals were very firm, and changed hands at 18/8, with buyers still in at that iiguie, anc holders asking 18/10. Buyers for Taupiri Coal Preference shares advanced their ofters to £1 -/J without attracting sellers. For the ordinary shares 14/0 was available, holder being willing to transfer at 15/8. Auckland Gas shares were firm, w!th buyers at £1 4/, and no sellers. Southland Meat Company shares were again demand with buyers at £o }/■ In the mining section Waihis were steady, with buyers at £1 9/10. Buyers for Blackwaters dropped back to £1 14/6, but holders stood firm at £1 10/j. Government stocks were in keen demand at full late rates. The Noon Call. the noon call National Bank shares were asked for at four guineas with holders willing to sell at £4 8/. Moms, Hedstrom scrip was again wanted at l//b, bringing in a seller at 19/. After further business in Investment Executive lrust B debentures at £102, buyers dropped back to £101 10/, while holders raised their limits to £105. SAI/ES COMPLETED.

INTEREST BATES. The return to the investor on his outlay/based upon the latest dividends, works out as follows on the latest sales. Where Government stocks are included the calculation provides for redemption at maturity.
