ACCOUNTANCY INSTITUTE.
RECOGNITION SOUGHT. To secure the recognition, under the audit sections of the New Zealand Companies Act, of the International Institute of Accountants, Incorporated, Mr. M. B. Duffy, registrar of -the institute in'"Melbourne, who arrived from Melbourne by the Monowai, will join a deputation in Wellington on the subject to the Minister of Finance. Mr. E. _N. Rowley, the institute's honorary solicitor, is already in Wellington, and the president, Mr. A. <T. Williams, will arrive in Wellington from Sydney next week. Mr. Duffy attended in Auckland a meeting of about 50 persons, over which Mr. W. J. Holdsworth presided. "The reason for the visit to the Dominion of the deputation from the Australian organisation is to seek recognition of tho institute in New Zealand and to bring before members in the Dominion the progress and aims of the institute," said Mr. Duffy. "Weaknesses which existed in the institute formerly have been eliminated, and the organisation is in a stronger position than ever."_ He stressed the importance of an inter- ! national body of accountants, as comI merce was international in character.
