OVERSEAS MARKETS.
LONDON BUTTER MARKET. SLIPPED AGAIN. Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., report receipt of a cable from their principals, Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated Loudon, 24th instant, reading:—Butter: Danish, 87/ to 88/; New Zealand salted, 07/ to 68/; Australian salted, 02/ to 64/. Cheese: New Zealand, white, 41/ to 42/; coloured, 42/ to 44/. Both markets quiet.
Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Trengrouse and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated January 24:—Butter: 68/ to 69/ per cwt. Cheese: White, 4.1/6 to 42/6 per cwt; coloured, 43/. Both markets very quiet.
THE PRICE OF GOLD. AMERICA'S PURCHASES. LONDON, January 24. Gold is quoted at £6 12/10 per ounce. America purchased £800,000 sterling, all that was offered. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. SYDNEY, January 24. At the Sydney wool sales to-day 12,505 bales were offered, and 11,495 were sold. Also 548 hales were disposed of privately. There was good general tompetition, and the market was very firm. Greasy Merino made to 339 id for five bales from Yass. PRICES OF METALS. LONDON, January 23.
