EDUCATION BOARD.
The Auckland Education Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. T. U. Wells, presiding. Kowhai School Third Year—A memorandum from the Department of Education approved a third-year course at Kowhai Intermediate School for those pupils whose parents had signed undertakings that they did not intend to send their children to a secondary school or a technical school. School Terms—The school terms and vacations for 1931 were fixed as under: First terms. February 5 to May 4; second term, May 27 to August 17; third term, September 3 to December 19. Waitangi Celebrations—Five schools in the vicinity of Waitangi are to have the summer vacation extended one week, and the May holiday shortened accordingly, so that the children will be able to attend the Waitangi celebrations on February 5 and 6.
