THE "DAILY MAIL."

Tli© article "An 111-Advised Appeal" ■with regard to the "Daily Mail" in Wednesday's "Star" must have brought many a grin to the faces of ex-Londoners now in Auckland. The statement concerning the emallness of the political influence of the "Daily Mail" compared with its huge circulation is absolutely incorrect, and the number of English people who put full faith in the "teachings" of that paper is enormous. This was seen when the "Daily Mail" stood out for a larger Air Forcc, when people throughout the British Empire took note, realising how scanty were their defences, and compelled the Commons to give some attention to the low power of the Air Force. And, as the "Daily Mail" states, enormous is the number of Englishmen who will prefer Sir Oswald Mosley's Black Shirts to •Sir Stafford Cripps' Socialists in the next election. LONDONER.
