PERSONAL.
Mr. A. Harris, M.P., left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Col. W. D. Holgate leaves for the South by the Limited to-morrow night. Mr. J. R. McKenzie will leave New Zealand on a visit to England early in February. The Hon. L. Clifford, of Melbourne, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. Norman Heath, Consul for Latvia, with headquarters in Auckland, is visiting: Christchurch. Mr. R. Semple, M.P. for Wellington East, who arrived yesterday morning, leaves again for Wellington on Monday. Mr. G. W. Skellcrup, of Christchurch, managing director of the Para Rubber Company, arrived by the Main Trunk this morning. Major P. Kerr-Smilev, of London, who has been staying at Taupo, returned to Auckland yesterday, and is at Hotel Cargen. Dr. R. M. Campbell, private secretary to the Minister of Finance, left Wellington for Sydney by the Wanganella on Thursday. Captain A. Davies is acting-superin-tendent of Mercantile Marine at Auckland while Captain H. T. W. Wilcox is on holiday leave. Mr. S. R. W. Tovey, chief clerk of the Government Life Insurance Department at Invercargill, has been transferred to Whangarei. Mr. J. H. Robertson, Official Assignee in bankruptcy at Christchurch, who has been in Auckland on his annual leave, has returned to Christchurch. Major Donald Stewart Fraser, export manager for Riley (Coventry), Ltd., left Wellington by the Wanganella on Thureday on a short business visit to Sydney. Sir Arthur Dudley Dobson is reported to be making good progress toward recovery from his illness, and is now able to leave his bed for a few hours each day.
