NEAR COLLAPSE.

Government Troops Break Rebel Ranks. PUKIEN "UPRISING. ("Times" Cables.) LONDON, January 14. The Peking correspondent, of "The Times" sayr, official dispatches indicate that the Fukien revolt is on the point of collapsing. Two Nanking Government divisions have broken through the rebel lines at Minghsien 25 miles west of the provincial capital.

Recent important victories by Government troops over tho Fukien rebels led the Nanking Government to claim that the insurrection would be crushed before January 20.

The major features were the capture of Yen-ping and Kutien, the key points of the defence of Foocliow. The former was lost as the result of the defection to the Government forces of General Tan Cliisiu, the insurgent defender of the city. Other reports suggest that the rebels are concentrating on the Foochow area, while the fact that the Communists remain in the southern part of Fukien province suggests that the Government has succeeded in driving a wedge between tho rebel forces.

TROUBLE THREATENS.

SERIOUS HOSTILITIES FEARED,

(Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, January 14. "The Times" Peking correspondent states that further trouble threatens in Ninghsia, which was formerly a part of Kansu. Wealthy merchants have been arrested, and are now held for ransom, and serious hostilities are feared.
