MARAMA'S CRUISE.

EXCURSION TO NORTH.

MOSTLY WOMEN PASSENGERS,

There is again a preponderance of women's names in the list of passengeis leaving from the King's wharf by the Union Company's steamer Marama at 7.30 o'clock this evening. The vessel's itinerary will be the same as that followed 'by the. steamer Monowai in Christmas week. In the earlier cruise about threequarters of the excursionists were women, which, in view of the general holidays at that time, was considered unusual. The proportion of sexes for the present trip is about the same in a total of 250 people. The ship will spend to-morrow at Whangaroa, Wednesday at Russell, and Thursday at Port Fitzrov, Great Barrier, returning to Auckland about 9 a.m. on Friday. Arrangements have been made for picnic parties and short sightseeing tours ashore as well as entertainments and sports aboard.
