AN EXPERT'S ESTIMATE.
A leading Auckland wool expert who has attended all the sales in the Dominion this season, points out, in reference to the price of close on £20 a bale realised at Wellington, that this cannot be used as a basis in estimating Auckland's prospecte. The clip here is different. In Wellington there is a fair proportion of Merino and half-bred, particularly from Marlborough, and, for I these high-class wools anywhere up to '25d a lb was realised. Only a very few offerings in Auckland will be o"f this quality. A better basis of comjparison, he says, is supplied by the Napier sale, which resulted in a return of from £17 to £18 a bale. His own estimate for Monday—and he emphasised that it was only a guess—was about £17 a bale.
