TO-DAY'S TURF.

Thames Jockey Club. ALLOY WINS PLATE. Prince Acre Takes the Eopu.— Daywind Lifts Hikutaia Stakes. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") THAMES, this day. The Thames Jockey Club's annual meeting, which opened on Thursday, is terminating in dull, weather before another good attendance. The track is fast.

The programme opened with the Kopu Handicap, for which Kurapae, Etcetera, and Mise Rewa declined engagements. Most money came for Kecord Flight, Prince Acre and Aubretia, another to have friends being Hunting Maid. Tuaheahe began best, and led along , * tha back from Record Flight, Prince Acre and Lady Diana. Across the top there was no change in the order of the leaders, but Royal Secret, Maori Jack and Dark Eewa had moved vin behind the third and fourth horses. Record Flight was first into the straight from Tuaheahe, Lady Diana, Prince Acre and Royal Secret. Prince Acre finished best to beat Tuaheahe by a neck, Lady Diana being a length away third. Record Flight was fourth, followed by Royal Secret, Dark Rewa and Hunting Maid. Surprise in Chief Event. Of the 12 acceptors for the Thames Plate, only six faced the starter, and when the machine closed Mungatoon, Whakapara and Prolyxo were tlie public fancies. The field went away to a good start, and Whakapara took up the running, leading past the stand from Flying Prince, Alloy, Mungatoon, Prolyxo and Trishna. There was no change along the back, where Whakapara and Flying Prince were out three lengths in front. Whakapara led into the straight, with Flying Prince, Alloy and Mungatoon in close attendance. Alloy finished best in the run home, and stayed on to beat Mungatoon by a neck, with Whakapara half a length away third. Trishna was fourth, with Prolyxo and Flying Prince next. A Small Field. King Brierly was a hot favourite for the Hikutaia Stakes, in which Daywind was first out from Ling Moy, King Brierly and Gay Athlone, these four comprising the field. There was no change until 100 yards from the post, where King Brierly came through, but failed to get up in time to beat Daywind, who lasted lone enough to score by a head: Ling Moy was half a length away third. Well-fanciea Winner. Eight horses paraded for the Turua Handicap, and when the totalisator figures had been balanced King Mestor was a strong favourite, with Chief Clerk and Roman Mascot also carrying food support. When the barrier was released Chief Clerk, Boxy, Bonny Gay and Glenromney were the first to ehow out, 'but Glenromney ran through fast, and led along the back from Chief-Clerk, Roman Mascot, Bonny Gay, Mustang and King Mestor. There was no change crossing the top, and Glenromney led into the straight, with Chief Clerk, Roman Mascot, Bonny Gay and King Mestor following in that order. In a great finish Chief Clerk lasted long enough to beat the fast-finishing Kanapa by half a head, with Bonny Gay a neck away third. Roxy was right up fourth, then coming Roman Maecot and King Mestor. Results are:— KOPU HACSDICAP of £53.
