(Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A shark attacked Colin Grant, 22, of the life-saving club at Queenscliff, near Manly, and so badly mauled one of his legs that its amputation below the knee was imperative. Grant, who was formerly surf and belt champion, swam ashore unaided, though the calf of his leg had been torn away. The captain of the club last evening gave a blood transfusion in the hope of saving the injured youth's life. Hundreds of rescues were made by patrols in rough surf, which was running on all beaches during the week-end. A number of bathers were injured when they were carried against rocks at the ends of beaches.
