T*e chief race at the Moorefield Racing Club's meeting was won by the four-year-old Persian, who k trained by J. T. Jamieson for the English sportsman, Major P. Kerr Smiley. Tho New Zealander Dole was unplaced in the Flyin? Handicap, and Kodapen in the Moorefield Handicap. Result: — MOOEEFIELD GOLD CUP of £500 and a Gold Cup valued fit 50gns. One mile. The New Zealand-bred gelding Beacons-' field by Diogenes from Imperial Molly, won the Trial Plate, seven furlongs, at Montone on New Year's Day. He started at, fair odds, and won easily by a couple of lengths. Beaconsfield was formerly raced by the Awapuni owner, G. W. New, and won a number of races in his colours.
