ON HEAVY GREENS.
Bowls Tourney Opens—Singles Championship.

DUNEDIN, this day.
Tlie Dominion bowling tourney commenced in bright sunshine this morning. The eleven greens used for the singles championship, which attracted 168 players, were still somewhat heavy after the rain of last week. The president, Air. Rowley opened the tourney, specially welcoming the Australian competitors. The singles are being played on the two-life principle, two games being set down for decision this morning. The following visiting players have two wins:—Section A: Gray (Kiatoa, Timaru). Section B: Ryan (United, Christchurch), Barnsdale (Christchurch), Healey (Waimate). Section C: Ching (Nelson), Kinvig (Linwood), Barnett (Christchurch). Section D: Gilbert (Karori), Forrest (Oamaru), Sinclair (Waimate) . Section E: Taylor (Kiatoa). Section F: Edwards (Temulfri), Walker (Auckland), Masefield (Nelson). Section G: Foster (Oamaru). Section H: Martin (Sumner). Section I: Duncan (Auckland), Adams (Oamaru), Stewart (West End). Section J: Mueton (Carlton), Chambers (Sumner).
