DEMAND BECOMES KEENER.
The news that prices secured at the Xapier sale to-day have been generally as high ae those further south will be welcomed by those farmers who have wool in store ready to be offered at the second Auckland sale to be held on Monday week. Growers have been led to anticipate a maintaining of the values that" ruled in Auckland; and now that the demand, instead of remaining merely •steady, has become more keen, those hopes would seem fair to be realised. 'Further, the wool grown in the Napier district is much the same as that grown in the Auckland district. The appended table shows the average price per bale realised in recent years in Auckland:—
