WEATHER BREAKS.
LIGHT RAIN TO-DAY.
CRICKET INTERRUPTED.
BENEFIT TO GARDENS.
The uncertainty of Auckland's weather was further demonstrated today. There was steady rain at mid-day, although in the early part of the afternoon there was promise of brighter skies. The rain was beneficial to suburban gardens, but it was not appreciated by holiday campers or the thousands who anticipate bathing and picnicking at the week-end. Out at Eden Park the Plunket Shield cricket match between Auckland and Canterbury was commenced, but after a few overs there was a postponement until the afteri*bon. The barometer fell gradually during the morning, and at 2 p.m. it was low but steady.
