PENALISING THE NATIVE.
It seems time that someone protested against the way in which New Zealanders are discriminated against in favour of outsiders. The New Zealander who invests in one of our local art unions gets paid, if he wins, in a depreciated currency. If however, he send 3 his money out of "the country for an Irish sweep he gets a bonus of 25 per cent on anything he is fortunate enough to win, and this bonus is paid him by the already over-taxed New Zealanders. If a New Zealander has invested his money in English securities, he gets a similar bonus. If he
I has invested his money in New Zealand securities through an English agency, empowered to draw the interest, he gets his interest in full, and, in addition, another 2.3 per cent when it is forwarded back to this country. The English investor, who has done nothing for New Zealand except lend money, gets paid full interest in sterling. The New Zealander, whp has lent money to his country and'has resided here and worked for the common good, is penalised by a drastic "cut" in interest as well as getting this reduced interest in depreciated currency. Anything that is left is mostly taken by taxation. No wonder the New Zealander is getting a bit. FED-UP.
