WAVE UPSETS AEROPLANE
OCCUPANTS ESCAPE INJURY. (By Telegraph.—Own Cox-respondent.) HASTINGS, this day. A mishap on Waimarama Beach resulted in minor damage being done to the Hawke's Bay and East Coast Aero Club's Moth 'plane. Neither the pilot, Mr. E. A. Barker, nor the hoy he was carrying as a passenger was injured. Aβ the machine was about to take off at the southern end of the beach one of the wheels was caught by a wave, and the braking effect of the water caused the machine to tip over on its back. Mr. Barker and his passenger climbed out unhurt. The wings , of the overturned aeroplane were slightly bent, several struts were broken, and the benzine tank, which is on the top of the upper wing, was severely crumpled. When the mishap occurred a number of people rushed to the,scene, thinking that a serious accident had happened. The aeroplane was brought to Hastings by motor lorry for repairs.
