RAIL CRASH SEQUEL.
CHARGES AGAINST WORKMEN.
(Received 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, January 3. As a. sequel to the recent disastrous railway crash at Lagny, charges of imprudence, inefficiency, negligence and non-observance of regulations, involving the loss of nearly 200 lives, have been preferred against Merlin, the chief engineer, and Martelot, the assistant engineer, at the Montignault workshop.
The foreman (Mougeot), the technical inspector (Pietremont), the assistantforeman (Caron), -the inspecting mechanic of the engine while being driven, and the fireman of the Strasbourg express, have been charged with culpable negligence.
