GUNS FOR CAVALRY.
EXPERIMENTS IN INDIA. CALCUTTA, December 24. Following experiments both in India and Britain, India has decided to dispense with the Hotchkiss gun and rearm her cavalry with the Vickers Berthier gun. It is claimed for the Vickers Bertlvicr that it combines the requirements of simplicity, durability and portability with remarkable accuracy. Organisation in sabre squadrons in India is to be on a troop basis. One gun and its attendants will be an integral part of each troop, in place of the old separate Hotchkiss organisation.
