TENNIS " INCIDENT." An unfortunate incident spoiled the fine singles match between C. Angas, Canterbury champion, and C. E. Malfroy, Wellington's first man, in the Wilding Shield match at Wilding Park, Christchureh. After the first set, which Angas won 10—S, Malfroy protested to the umpire, Mr. G. L. Berry, that a point had been wrongly allowed to Angas. He claimed that during the set Angas, in scooping the ball, had got it on the second bounce, and that, as Angas knew this fact very well, he should have informed the umpire. The umpire said that the ball was a food one, and that he had ruled it so, and Malfroy declared his intention of not going on with the second set.
