' WAIPU SPORTS. The Waipu Caledonian Society's sixtythird annual Highland gathering was held yesterday in fine weather. The piping championship of New Zealand. carrying with it the "D.C.L." Shield. was won by D. Matheson. of Auckland, with K. Cameron; of Dunedin. president of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand, and J. McKenzie. of Masterton. tying for second place. The Highland reel dancing championship of New Zealand was won bv Miss Gwen McNaughton, of Auckland, "with Miss Hazel Lee second, and Miss Jean Lee third. The Highland fling North Island championship, under 16 years, was won by Jean Lee. with Helen Sinton second, and Olive Evans third.
