ROXY AND TIVOLI. Stage technique, earned during fifteen directorial years "011 Broadway, coupled with three years' experience in Hollywood, is responsible for many of the finer points in "Brief Moment," Carole Lombard's new stellar production which opens to-day at the Boxy and Tivoli theatres. "Brief Moment" is played against a background of ultra-modern surroundings. It deals with the marriage of a cabaret singer (to the scion of one of New York's richest families. Miss Lombard is cast as Abby Fane, the cabaret singer, with Gene Raymond as the wealthy man she marries. Monroe Owsley, always a favourite on the screen, Donald Cook and Florence BViton complete the cast of players; The other' .picture screening at both houses is "My Woman." a dramatic human story in which the leading roie is taken by Helen Twelvetrees. supported by Victor Jory and Wallace Ford, "My Woman" follows the for-j tunes of a small-time vaudeville entertainer | who becomes, the sensation of the day Over the air. Miss Twelvetrees is seen as his wife. This setting provides an ideal spot for the excellent music, composed by the director, Victor Schertzinger, for the picture. The "My Mamma" and "I Knew" offerings, as well as the incidental music in the picture, are tuneful; the songs show promise of becoming popular tunes. Incidentally, Schertzinger wrote 31 numbers, including "The Love Parade" for the Chevalier picture of the same name.
