Mr. John F. Potter, headmaster of the Richmond School, Nelson, arrived by the daylight Limited last night to spend a holiday in Auckland. Mr. S. W. M. Stilling, New Zealand representative of the Australian National Travel Association, leaves for Sydney by the Marama to-day. Lieutenant C. A. Noble is posted to the 6th Cadet Battalion, First Canterbury Regiment, from the North Auckland Regiment. Major-General W. L. H. SinclairBurgess, general officer commanding the New Zealand Forces, arrived from Wellington by the express this morning. The Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, and the Mayoress, Mrs. Hutchison, commence their vacation to-day. They are going to the seaside, and expect to return about January. 8. Mr. L. A. Paish, British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, accompanied by Mrs. Paish, left for London by the Port Gisborne from Wellington yesterday. Mr. Gordon J. Reid, joint manager of the Commercial Union, Ocean Union, and A.PA. Union Insurance Companies, and the London Assurance Corporation, retires at the end of the year. Mr. Reg. H. Greenslade, who has been transferred from the Whakatane District High School to the Te Kuiti District High School, arrived by train last evening to spend the vacation at Auckland. Mr. F. H. Coventry, a New Zealand artist who has exhibited in the Royal Academy, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Coventry of Wellington. He intends to spend several months in the Dominion.
