CORNWELL CUP.
AUCKLAND CREW SELECTED.
Two races were held last evening off Bays-water to decide the crew to represent Auckland at the next contest for the Cornwell Cup. Both trials were won by Masters Mas Pelham and F. BellBooth. At the conclusion of the trials the sole selector Mr. J. J. Mackay, announced that Pelham and Bell-Booth would be the chosen crew. Of the seven races sailed they had won three, the Johnston broth ers am i Davis and Bryant two each. The contest will commence on the Waitemata on Saturday, January 20, when crews representing Sydney, Hawke's Bay, Auckland, Manukau, Tauranga, \\ hangarei, Hamilton and Frankton will compete. The crews only come to Auckland. The boats are provided by the Takapuna Club, and are allotted by ballot for each race, no crew sailing in the same boat twice, unless two or more rounds are necessary. Auckland is the defender of the cup, having won it last year at Lyttelton.
