PAPAKUEA BRANCH MEETING The quarterly meeting of the Papakura branch of the R.S.A. was held last evening. Mr. S. P. There had been in operation a relief scheme for their members, under which for three months over £200. had been distributed in wages in Papakura. The public and various organisations had responded well, enabling about 80 unemployed members to benefit' under the scheme. Then from employers came a subsidy of £102, making a total of £474 raised in six months. When work was not available orders rip to 9/ a week were issued, also a firewood cutting scheme was carried out to employ some of the members, and this had paid its way. Relief had also been obtained for several members under the Mortgagors' Relief Act. Special thanks were due to Messrs. Storey, Brett, Bingley and Knight for their'live and dead stock contributions. Mr. S. P. Day proposed that all men who went to camp should be admitted as members of the R.S.A., but this was defeated. Licut.-Commander Bingley, who was a submarine commander during the war, gave an address on "Scapa Flow."
