CHEAPER TRAM FARES.

A CHRISTCHURCIf PLAN. (To tli3 Editor.) As there is a slight agitation for a reduction of tram fares in Auckland at present this should be of interest to tram users lore. In Cliristchurch the Tramways Board issues a weekly pass for tlio sum of 3/. This pass is available for the seven days of the week, "For one person only on any journey—anywhere within four-fare section of Cathedral Square" and "May be transferred to other persons off the car." It is also with two exceptions available on all the tramway buses. The holder of this pass can ride oil the trams or buses all day long if he wants to, within the four-fare section of the. square, which is. the centre of the tramways system there. If he wants to go further afield he pays for the extra sections. There is a 5/ ticket for users of very long routes like New Brighton, and Sumner, I believe. These passes have been obtainable for about the last ning months. There is no doubt one would need to travel a long way to find tram fares as dear as we have in Auckland. The concession tickets are hardly worth while buying. FAIR FARE'S.
