CLAIM SETTLED.

SHAREMILKING DISPUTE. MORRINSVILLE LITIGATION. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Wednesday. A settlement was announced to-day in connection with litigation which wa.s to have come before th© Supreme Court and in which the plaintiff was James McWlia, sharemilker, Morrinsville (Mr. J. F. Strang), and the defendant was Mrs. Harriett Brown, widow,. Morrinsville (Mr. W. J. King). The action was for the recovery of-£540, of which £500 represented alleged damages and £46 was for a proportion of butterfat moneys which plaintiff alleged defendant held to his credit. Of the £500 claimed, £250 was sought for alleged wrongful seizure bv defendant of the plaintiff's stock and the loss sustained in connection with the sale of the stock. The second claim of £250 was for damages for the alleged wrongful termination of the sharemilking contract before the expiration of the period °f the original agreement.

Defendant counter-claimed for an order for possession of the land and for f 100 damages by reason of the plaintiff's alleged wrongful retention of the property. In coming to a settlement of the case, the defendant, without any admission of liability that stock had been illegally seized and sold, or that there had been any wrongful determination of the contract, agreed to pay the plaintiff fISO, which included £40 admitted in the pleadings to be due to plaintiff, and costs. Plaintiff agreed to give up immediate possession of the land and buildings and to pay accrued charges for electric light.
