Submarine Commander Charged
With Neglect.
GROUNDING IN SCOTLAND.
(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, October 25. Lieutenant-Commander John Hugh Lewis, who commanded the submarine L2O which grounded on the coast of Argyllshire, which was followed by a fatal explosion, was tried by courtmartial. He was charged with stranding the submarine and neglecting, after tlio grounding, to ensure sufficient examination of the batteries before charging them. An expert gave evidence that there was nothing to explain the explosion. The Court found the charges proved and the officer was dismissed the ship and was severely reprimanded.
