BUSINESS IMPROVES.

BANK OF NEW ZEALAND HIGHER.

Business on the local Stock Exchange has brightened up again, and a fair list of sales was put through over the last 24 hours. There is a better inquiry in the banking section, and New Zealands, following the dividend announcement, have moved up again. South British Insurances were quoted ex dividend, with sellers at £3 12/9. Guarantee Corporations also were quoted ex dividend, and had buyers at 7/11. Auckland Gas shares were easier, and following a sale at £1 3/5 there were sellers at £1 3/6, and buyers dropped out. Xaiapoi Woollen preference shares were available at 16/3, with buyers offering 15/6. Quieter at Noon. At noon the market was quieter, and only two sales were made. Buyers of Auckland Gas shares came in at £1 3/4, and of New Zealand Breweries at £1 15/, but without attracting sellers. Morning quotations were generally unchanged. SAX.ES completed.
