Officers elected at laßt night's annual meeting of the Birkenhead and Northcote Ama'teur Swimming Club, presided over by Mr T. V. Fitzpatriek:—Patron, Mr. U. R. ' Hutchinson ; president, Mr. H. Shaw; club captain, Mr. T. V. Fitzpatriek; lady club captain, Miss Jean Bilkey; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. E. Johnston; auditor, Mr. H. Kemp; committee, Misses E. Steel and B. Crombie, Messrs. R. Headland, S. Cross, A. McFarland; delegates ■to Life-Saving Society, Miss E. Steel and Mr S. Cross; delegates to Auckland Swimming Centre, Messrs. T. V. Fitzpatriek and. R. Johnston. It was decided to open the season next month and also to enter teams in the water polo competition. •./ The report stated -that the membership was 111, the respective grades being Men : Senior 24, Intermediate 12, Junior 37, associate 2. Indies: Senior S, intermediate 10, junior 17, associate 1.U'he club's initial carnival, to open the swimming season, was held on November 26, 3032, at the Hnemoa Park waterfront, Birkenhead. Races were held for members and outside swimmers. The next carnival, on February IS last, "was held in conjunction with the Birkenhead and Northcote Regatta Committee. The first open harbour race, for a shield presented by on March 25, from the Northcote wharf to the club, took place prior to the carnival Birkenhead, and there were 32 starters, all the clubs being represented, and was won bv V. Capper, of, the Waltemata Club. From "time to time club races were held at the Itinemoa Park basin and two long races, one from "Needle's Eye" (Birkenhead) to Hall's Beach (Northcote), and the other from Birkenhead wharf to Hall's Beach. The most successful In club races were G. Wallace and Miss Doreen Esdale. The foundation shield was won by V. Capper, the schools' relay by Northcote primary, and the men's aggrega.tr by G.. Wallace.
