LUCK AT ROTOKUA.
SYNDICATE DRAWS THE PONT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) KQTOK.UA, this day. Unexpected good luck has befallen Mr. J. E. Meates and Miss Cosseboom, who intend to be married in a month's time. On Tuesday Mr. Meates received a cable from Dublin informing him. that his ticket in the Irish Hospitals sweepstake on the Cambridgeshire Handicap had drawn the promising three-year-old The Font. Even if the horse is unplaced the ticket, with exchange added, should be worth upwards of £1000. Mr. Meates does not hold the ticket entirely in his own name, as it is understood he was one of a syndicate of eight which purchased a book of tickets in the sweepstake, and all will participate in the good fortune. Mr. Meates' fiancee, Miss Cosseboom, is one of the members of the syndicate.
